Message from Steve

People are important. It’s the truth!

It’s the truth which is written on every single page of the Bible. It’s the truth which is repeated every day of our lives.

I have no idea how to run the cash register at the BP station just down the street from the church, but Chris does. I have no idea how to maintain the
peace on the Milford Hills side of Salisbury, but Police Officer Rule does.  I don’t know how to take a lunch order at DJ’s accompanied with gracious hospitality, but Pat does.

But please—I need to make sure you understand.  These people are not important because of what they do.  These people are important simply because they are.

In a dusty, ordinary day long ago, the angel Gabriel came to speak to a poor and nameless peasant girl. In so many words, Gabriel said to her, "The Lord knows you. The Lord knows your name and the Lord loves you.  And just to prove it, the Lord has chosen you, Mary, to give birth to his son."

And of course Mary asked a great question—the same kind of question which you or I would ask:   How can this be?  And with a twinkle in his eye, Gabriel answered, "Because the Lord can do anything, and besides, you’re important."

And herein ends the first pastor's letter to the people of Milford Hills United Methodist Church.  You’re important simply because you are.

It’s the truth.

Grateful to God for ALL of you,
Pastor Steve

Pictoral Directories

They have finally arrived!  Please note this is not the fault of Olan Mills.  The church had a hard time getting things together.  Thanks to Laura Preslar for taking this pro-ject and running with it.  If you had your picture made last April, there is a directory for you in an envelope with your name on it in the Gathering Place.  Others are available in the church for the low price of $2.00.
